We worked with a charity to launch a school photography exhibition at the National Museum
Localise is a charity that directly engages young people in positive community work in their local areas. This year we've been working with them on a project called 'Local Heroes'.
A class from
Larkin Community College, an inner city northside Dublin school, visited a local day care centre and took photographic portraits of some of the residents there (all of whom are of very different generation to the children).
The shoot was great, with some amazing results, and an enjoyable and rewarding experience for the students, sitters and mentors alike.
The students were mentored by professional photographers in getting the best shots they could, learning some of the fundamentals of photography along the way.
The results are being exhibited in the National Museum,
Decorative Arts and History campus at the Collins Barracks in Dublin.
The launch will be on
December 9th 2010, with the exhibition running until January 2010.
Some examples of the great student work can be seen below, pretty good no?
